What Exactly is Volume Restoration?

You’ve heard all about it and why it’s important and how volume is such an important part of a young case. Or have you? You see it in advertisements for dermal fillers and other anti-age cosmetic treatments, statements like “Restore volume” or “More face volume for a younger look,” but what do these actually mean and what are they referring to? After all, if we’re talking about cosmetic treatments, which have a science behind them, we’re not referring to some abstract idea of what it means to be young.

What Exactly is Volume Restoration?

We’re literally talking about a very much physically existing face and its features, or the lack thereof. In this case the lack of volume which makes the face look older. So, let’s clear up any vagueness and take a plunge into the world of volume and dermal fillers like Juvederm NYC clinics’ right hand when it comes to youth restoration and anti-aging.

And thanks to Manhattan’s own MiracleFace MedSpa, who’ve offered a lot of helpful information into the secret behind volume and how it works, we’ll get a better idea of just what it is and how it helps us look younger.

What is Volume

When you think of a younger vs older face, what are some things that come to your mind? On an older face, you’ll probably imagine wrinkles and stretched out skin, whereas smooth and perfectly even surfaced on the young. What about the pigmentation? Generally, younger faces have a more smooth color pallet and nothing is out of place, though obviously, everyone’s skin is different and some people may naturally have a larger variety in their skin pigmentation. However, it’s no secret that as the skin gets older, it naturally attracts a whole bunch of dark spots called “sun spots” which are quite visible and are a telltale sign of aging.

Volume does not work in such a visible fashion, it’s a lot more nuanced. While wrinkles and skin pigmentation are straight-forward and don’t need any extra examination to understand and notice, the volume is much more subtle and works behind the scenes.

Now, sure, the structure of your skull will not change and the shape of your head will stay the same all throughout your life. But the shape of your face can and will change at some point, as your skin gets looser and saggier with age. Part of having tight skin isn’t just about seeing no wrinkles, but also seeing those curves and contours of your face, like the cheekbones, that straight jawline, and chin.

All of these make up the smooth-cut shape of your face and give it that youthful and fresh appearance. But as times goes on and with that little thing called gravity always weighing you down, you’ll find your skin getting weaker and saggier. Once it begins to droop in this fashion, the smooth edges created by all those curves on your face are lost under folds of older skin, and the shape of your face sags.

You’ll notice how older skin tends to have bags in various places, like above the chin, below the jawline, and under the eyes. This comes from a loss of volume or tightness of the face. Basically, the older you get the more volume you lose and the more volume you lose, the saggier your face gets, looking more tired and droopy as a result.

How It’s Restored

Thanks to dermal fillers like Juvederm, skin volume can be restored quite easily and the face’s youthful look with it. When Juvederm is injected into key locations in the face, it lifts and tightens the skin, bringing out those curves, like the cheekbones and jawline once again, restoring volume and making the face look younger.

Thanks to the Juvederm compound’s clever engineering, it is able to lift the skin in a natural manner, without sacrificing any of your facial features that make it so special. It does not puff up the skin, nor does it make it look plastic and fake. Modern dermal fillers, not excluding Juvederm, can give you a naturally younger look.

So, if you’re worried about people being able to tell whether or not you’ve gone through treatment, then you have very little to worry about. Thanks to the method of injections, as well as the compound itself, discerning between treated and untreated faces is very hard to do nowadays. Also, thanks to the advanced compound, you also don’t have to worry about long-lasting side-effects and recover times.

Most clients report that the side-effects wear off within the first week after the treatment and the side-effects themselves are said to be very light in nature. You can expect anything from a little swelling to itching and dryness immediately after the treatment and this will continuously go away within that initial week.

After the treatment, there is also very little to do in terms of skin maintenance. The only thing you’ll be asked to do is not put more strain on your skin, especially the treated area than you need to. This especially refers to other cosmetic treatments; don’t get them unless you know that your skin has completely recovered.

Put Your Trust in the Right Clinic

Picking the right clinic will only make your experience with volume restoration that much better, so you need to pick the right place and the right treatment plan in order to maximize results and get the best out of your budget. And if you happen to live in NYC, then MiracleFace MedSpa may just be one of your best options.

Thanks to its Ivy-League trained professionals, their Juvederm NYC treatment plan is responsible for many newly rejuvenated faces, which carry big smiles of satisfaction as they look in the mirror only to find a much younger and more vibrant face looking back at them. The Story of Juvederm in NYC

Juvederm isn’t hard to find anymore, especially not in big cities like NYC. Being an NYC resident, you currently have the unprecedented opportunity to get a little delayed with the power of Juvederm and the amazing abilities of modern cosmetic technology. This all sounds too convenient to be true, but it’s actually very much true.

Juvederm NYC clinics’ favorite dermal filler is widely available in a wide variety of clinics across the city and for prices that won’t leave you with an empty wallet. But before we can talk about deals on the treatment, we must first understand how Juvederm and other dermal fillers work and what they accomplish.

It’s important to know exactly what to expect from treatment before we even think about the payment model or making an appointment. Luckily, dermal fillers including Juvederm are very straight forward, with a simple procedure that leads to some of the most shockingly effective results the beauty industry has to offer. No wonder why so many clinics, not just NYC based, are picking up Juvederm as their go-to dermal filler.

Looking at Volume

When you think of a youthful face, what are some factors that come to your mind? You imagine smooth skin that sits tight against the facial structure, you also imagine a lively pigmentation with a color that pops out and looks fresh and vigorous. But what about the actual shape of the face; what kind of form comes to mind when thinking about a younger face.

Youthfulness is more than just having smooth skin and no wrinkles. There are a lot of factors that come together to make a face seem young and full of energy, one of the biggest of which happens to be volume. Volume isn’t as easy to notice as something like a wrinkle or another age mark. Volume isn’t immediately noticeable, but once you see it you understand what it is and how it affects your impression of someone’s face.

Younger faces, we still have supple and tight skin, have more contours and angles which add more character to the face. These are areas like the cheekbones, the forehead, the jawline, and chin. When skin fits these parts snugly and tightly these contours are highlighted, making the face look fresh and young. An easy way to see volume is to look at a young face and notice how their two protrude cheekbones converge together along the jawline and meet at the chin, making this letter V-like in shape.

Older faces don’t have this. The saggy skin no longer hugs these contours tightly and as a result, flaps downwards. This is why you’ll notice that certain older individuals will have extra flaps of skin hanging from their jaw; this is because their skin has lost so much of its volume, that it can no longer stay tight to the face. This is how volume works and Juvederm is able to restore it to make a face look younger.

How Juvederm Works

Juvederm being the type of dermal filler, can accomplish many different tasks when it comes to de-aging a face. Dermal fillers are used to lift the skin and tighten it in specific areas of the face to make it look younger. This can be done on many different parts, anywhere from the forehead to the area around the lips.

This is why with just a few injections of Juvederm, the skin can be lifted and the volume will be restored, as the skin tightly hugs the parts of the face which give it that extra contour to make it look younger and so much more fresh. The injections are very small and very quick, making them very painless and the procedure relatively short period if you’re worried about any kind of uncomfortable sensations, you have nothing to worry about since the specialist will apply numbing cream on the face before with the procedure to make sure that you don’t feel a thing.

Most clients report feeling a little tugging as the needle goes in and out of the skin, but other than there is no pain whatsoever with the procedure going by quickly and very cleanly. The Juvederm compound is then injected into certain parts of the face where after a short period of time it will position itself in a way that will lift up the skin above, stretching it out and tightening it.

After the Treatment

Immediately following the treatment you will already see some kind of results, in the form of your face being a lot smoother than you remember it period initially you’ll feel a little numbing sensation as the numbing cream wears off as well as your face getting used to the compound.

Within the first week, however, all the numbing and redness and swelling will have disappeared leaving behind smooth skin with no wrinkles. But this is not the end of your Juvederm journey. The compound still needs a little time to set into its final form and you’ll need to be a little more patient if you want to see the conclusive results. In any case, however, expect to notice a major difference that is very clearly visible.

You’ll also be needing guidance and assistance after the treatment as well. Sure, the procedure is rather quick and it’s very safe, but you’ll still need some extra advice for any questions or concerns you may have after the treatment. And a good clinic will need to provide you with this kind of support along with the quality treatment.

If you live in the NYC area, then Skinly Aesthetics is just the spa for you if you’re looking for not only reasonably priced and professional cosmetic treatments, but also all the help you’ll need before, during, and after the procedure. Their Juvederm NYC treatment plan gives you not only a reasonably priced opportunity to try out the compound for yourself but is also super effective and very much safe.

Four Products That Can Scientifically Rejuvenate Skin

As you get older, your skin starts to change.

The changes you might see include the skin losing its elasticity and some of the collagen. It also becomes increasingly dry, and you may begin to see the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Your first instinct might be to try and slow the aging process down, which is entirely reasonable. However, there are steps you can to rejuvenate your skin.

Skin rejuvenation refers to the process whereby the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced, and loose or sagging skin is firmed. It reverses the skin’s aging process and leaves it looking a lot younger.

If it sounds like skin rejuvenation can only be achieved through plastic surgery, it isn’t. There are lots of products you can use to rejuvenate your skin without having to go under the knife. Among them are certain face creams that can undo what time has done to your skin.

Here are four examples of products you should try for skin rejuvenation:

1. Particle Face Cream for Men

Particle cream is a 6-in-1 treatment, specifically designed for the male skin by expert biochemists, has several ingredients that have been proven effective in skin rejuvenation. It offers several benefits for its users.

Four Products That Can Scientifically Rejuvenate Skin
  • It firms the face up, ridding it of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. These are the most common signs of aging skin.
  • Bags and dark circles under the eyes also make the skin look older. The Particle Cream helps to reduce the visibility of both.
  • Prolonged exposure to the sun dehydrates the skin and makes it appear older than it is. Particle Cream restores skin cells damaged by the sun. It also evens out blemishes such as dark spots, which can also make the skin look more aged.
  • After using Particle Cream, the skin appears less dull and dry, making it look fresher and younger.

The Vitamin B3, shea butter, coffee seed extract, and hyaluronic acid in Particle Cream firm the skin up, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E and jojoba oil both act as anti-inflammatories, reducing redness and speeding up cell restoration.

Furthermore, both Vitamin E and squalene oil are known for their anti-aging properties. The appearance of wrinkles is often preceded by the slowing down of collagen production. Collagen is essential to maintain the skin’s elasticity. Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate and coffee seed extract boost collagen production.

2. Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter

Josie Maran’s product is perfect for users with sensitive skins, which often react adversely to the presence of fragrances. However, aside from sensitive skin, the Face Butter is suitable for all skin types. It alleviates redness from inflammation, dehydration, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Despite being labeled a butter, the cream is not oily or greasy. However, it provides the rich moisturizing aging skin needs.

As it contains 100% pure argan oil, the Josie Maran cream provides the skin with the intense nourishment it needs. Essential fatty acids and Vitamin E reduce the signs of aging. The aloe nectar is effective in reducing the redness of the skin, which is associated with inflammation. The skin is softened and smoothed by the shea butter, cucumber extract, and watermelon seed oil.

The Face Butter is quickly absorbed into the skin and doesn’t leave any residue, only a more radiant skin.  This product is vegan and cruelty-free.

3. Perricone MD Cold Plasma and Face Serum

Described as a multi-tasker, this product offers several benefits:

  • Evens out skin’s texture and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Rectifies skin discoloration, redness caused by inflammation, and uneven skin tone.
  • Lifts and firms the skin.
  • Replaces dull skin tone with radiance and youthfulness.

The Perricone MD cream uses a unique liquid crystal delivery system, which allows for quicker and deeper penetration into the skin. Despite offering the skin the deep moisturizing and rehydrating effect, the cream is light-weight and quickly absorbed. It is fragrance-free as well.

The cream contains sunflower seed oil, which provides deep moisturization. The rosemary leaf extract protects the skin from the damage caused by the sun and free radical cells in the body. Sodium hyaluronate helps to reverse the appearance of wrinkles. Applied daily, this product promises to bring about an immediate improvement to the skin.

4. La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream

A cream that is rich in nutrients, the  La Mer Cream is ultra-soft. It feeds the skin the nutrients it contains, leaving it looking and feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and more youthful. La Mer’s Miracle Broth heals the skin with its sea-sourced ingredients, which are known for their skin renewal properties.

In addition to the sea-based Miracle Broth, the La Mer Cream contains lime tea. Its ocean-sourced ingredients include kelp, seaweed extract, plankton, and sea salt. Other ingredients include shea butter, sweet almond seed meal, sesame seed oil, eucalyptus leaf oil, and soybean seed extract.

The La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream is recommended for use by those with dry or combination skins. The deep hydration it offers is rich, making it ideal for those whose skin needs extra moisturization. It also evens out the skin tone and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. For optimal effect, the La Mer cream should be applied to the face twice a day.

Advice for using rejuvenating face creams

  • Don’t let the price of the product fool you. The most expensive product is not necessarily the most effective.
  • Don’t expect an overnight miracle. You need to use most creams for at least a few weeks before the effects become visible.
  • Some products may cause side effects like a rash or burning sensation, especially in people with sensitive skin. Always test cream on a small patch of skin before applying it to your whole face.
  • Follow the instructions for use if you want to see the best results. Use the cream the number of times the instructions tell you to.
  • Don’t expect a cream that has worked for someone else to work for you automatically. Like you, your skin is unique.

What is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid’s benefits in skincare

Hyaluronic acid (also called hyaluronan) is a carbohydrate molecule that the body naturally produces. Contrary to what its name implies, it is not an acid. It is a gel-like glycosaminoglycan compound that works as a lubricant for our joints and connective tissues. It can be found in its densest concentrations within the fluids around our joints, and in our eyes.

Glycosaminoglycan compounds can attract and hold water on the skin. Because of its ability to bind water to the skin so well, this moisture-dense molecule has many benefits within skin care.

What is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid's benefits in skincare

Its Benefits in Skin Care:

1) Intensely Moisturizing:

Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Because it is able to absorb and hold onto moisture like a sponge. The molecule is also large enough to remain on the surface of our skin. Making it exceptionally effective at providing long-lasting moisture.

2) Provides a Protective Barrier:

Dry skin is dangerous because it breaks open easily, creating opportunities for infection. Using hyaluronic acid creates an additional skin-protecting layer that helps prevent environmental toxins from entering your system.

3) Anti-Aging:

The amount of hyaluronic acid in our body decreases as we age. Causing our skin to lose its ability to retain moisture. Consequently, our skin can dry out more quickly, begin to sag, and show fine lines and wrinkles. By applying this to our skin, it will be better moisturized and become more supple, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Click here to see the results of a scientific study that demonstrated its beneficial moisturizing and anti-aging effects.

4) Protects Against Sun Damage:

Free radicals produced by the sun’s UV rays damage our skin. Thankfully, this moisturizing-molecule contains powerful antioxidants that fight the free radicals that produce wrinkles and sagging-skin.

5) Firms and Tones Skin:

Hydrating our skin plums it up, making it appear firm, toned, and less saggy.

6) Promotes Healing:

It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help to promote the skin’s healing abilities.

This mega-moisturizing molecule is clearly, very beneficial to our skin. Largely due to its unique ability to absorb and bind substantial amounts of water to the skin’s surface.

The hyaluronic acid that is found in many skincare products is manufactured in a laboratory, using bacteria, or is extracted from rooster combs.

What is Dermaplaning and Why Should You Try It?

Back in time, if a woman admitted to shaving her face, she would get some less than attractive stares. Modern shaving for chicks, however, is something totally different, great for anti-aging complexions and doesn’t involve bearded women. It’s a technique called Dermaplaning. Some of the loveliest celebrity faces are doing it along with the girl-next-door.

What is Dermaplaning and Why Should You Try It?

When you Dermaplane, you are performing excellent exfoliation for the skin. You’re also removing the peach fuzz that grows on women’s faces. Exfoliation is the removal of dull, dead skin cells. The process is key for maintaining a smooth, soft and radiant complexion. It unclogs the follicles to keep away trapped grime and bacteria.

Dermaplaning can reveal younger-looking skin for women of all ages. The technique results in a fresh layer of skin that allows anti-aging products to penetrate better. It allows makeup to glide on smoothly and your face to appear more evenly toned.

If you think you can take any regular razor to Dermaplane, you would be mistaken. The razor you use for your legs and underarms is constructed differently, reports

You want to use a single-edge blade to get to the root of the matter. It’s not as easy as it looks. That is why going to a professional salon for a Dermaplane session is recommended. These trained technicians know how to properly use a Dermaplane scalpel. They also know how to hold the small beauty device at the right angles. These aesthetic experts are skilled in not cutting your skin.

There are Dermaplane razors sold over-the-counter, so you can do it yourself. However, these blades will be less sharp. You will have to repeat the skincare routine more often.

AmericanSpa took a look at the popular salon treatment and its pros and cons. For one thing, if you have active acne or cystic breakouts, don’t Dermaplane. Also, the treatment doesn’t get rid of hair as long as waxing does. Results may be unique to every individual because our hair growth cycles are not the same.

Other than those minor issues, a Dermaplane procedure offers multiple benefits. It’s a treatment that can be performed frequently. There’s no big downtime or recovery. The shaving technique encourages the growth of fresh collagen. This creates firmer, glowing skin. It’s also a wonderful option for sensitive complexions. Pregnant women can get thorough facial exfoliation, too. A series of treatments can lighten slight acne scars.

Lots of women worry about one huge problem developing after Dermaplaning. They’re afraid their hair will grow back in darker and thicker. Skin care experts say that’s an old myth. Your hair will return as it was before. It will not change in texture or color.

Hollywood icons like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor were said to be secret Dermaplane fans. Stars like Taraji P. Henson have the treatment done before red carpet events. Henson’s makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff performs the treatment on her. If you, too, desire baby-smooth skin, reach for the scalpel and shave it, girl!

Sexual Health Skin Care

A Little-Known Skin Disease That Can Disrupt Your Sex Life

Lichen sclerosis is an inflammatory skin disease that usually manifests itself as a white crust on your genital tissues. If misdiagnosed or undiagnosed it can screw the sex lives of those afflicted. It mainly forms on a woman’s vulva or less frequently on the man’s penis.

A Little-Known Skin Disease That Can Disrupt Your Sex Life

It causes intense itching and pain. Treating it is often difficult as even physicians can sometimes mistake this skin disease for a common yeast infection and prescribe the incorrect treatment. When women beyond menopause report that vaginal pain is making coitus impossible, physicians sometimes think it is little more than common age-related changes and don’t notice the presence of this disease.

Doctor Anuja Vyas, a gynecologist at the respected Baylor College of Medicine confirmed that sometimes gynecologists don’t “even look at the vulva” which is a frequently infected area. In The Journal of Nurse Practitioners, nurse practitioners, Laura Johnson, and Nicholas Wedel noted that if vulvar lichen sclerosis is left untreated it “can cause significant physical, emotional and sexual discomfort.”

Impact on sex lives
While it is not life-threatening, it can impact sex lives. Specifically, it can lead to irreversible devastation of your genital tissues. While it’s not transmitted sexually or contagious, as this goes to press there is no definitive cure or even established cause.

The condition rarely improves without treatment. It may actually be autoimmune in nature. More specifically, your body mistakes the mucous membranes and skin for “foreign tissue” and attacks it.

While lichen sclerosis can happen at any age, it generally impacts pre-pubescent girls and post-menopausal women. This could mean that a low level of one’s sex hormones could be involved it its start. There is also probably some type of genetic component.

Vyas reports that as many as one in 30 postmenopausal women and one in 300 of all women may be afflicted throughout a lifetime. It can alter the structure of a woman’s genital tissues. This will cause a narrowing the opening to both the urinary tract and the vagina.

The symptoms of this uncommon skin disease can include discomfort, intense itching, smooth white patches on one’s skin, tearing off one’s skin, and extreme pain. In some severe instances, there may also be ulcerated sores, blisters, and bleeding. Fortunately, there are treatment options.

At present, the most effective treatment is Temovate. Temovate is a powerful corticosteroid ointment also known as clobetasol. Initially, it’s applied in small quantities several times daily.

It’s then applied less frequently as the various symptoms improve. Vyas states that even advanced conditions of this disease will improve “if treated properly and treatment is continued indefinitely.” The risk of cancer is low but regular exams for malignancies are recommended.

In conclusion, Vyas also addressed the issue of sexual discomfort. The doctor recommends the use of an oil- or water-based sexual lubricant, or food-grade oils such as avocado, coconut, grapeseed or olive oil. If scarring limits sexual penetration, a dilator can be employed to carefully stretch the vaginal tissues in order to make coitus more comfortable.

The Best Way To Shave Your Bikini Line Without Getting Ingrowns Everywhere

Most women shave because it’s quick, simple and effective. The only problem is ingrown hairs, especially when you’re aiming for the perfect bikini line. There’s nothing worse than that because of the hair curls back or grows sideways into the skin. It’s frustrating to try and remove and seems to happen mostly to curly or coarse hair. There are a few easy ways to avoid the issue, so keep reading along.

The Best Way To Shave Your Bikini Line Without Getting Ingrowns Everywhere

Don’t be embarrassed about shaving “down there,” ladies. It’s very common, and we all do it, at least 77 percent of us. Waxing can solve the shaving routine, but it’s expensive, and yes, it hurts. One of the most sensible tips comes from the prepping phase. Dermatologists recommend a bath or shower before you start shaving the region because warm water will soften the hair. That step makes it easier to remove the hair and avoid irritation and bumps.

Also, if your pubic hair has grown considerably, then trim back. Take a small pair of grooming scissors, and cut the hair back if it’s over a quarter of an inch. Perform this small step before you get into the shower.

The next step involves the proper razor. There are bikini razors designed to deliver close shaving results. These razors usually come with soothing strips to ensure comfort and ease of gliding across the bikini area. These razors are really for one or two uses. They are disposable and quickly create the ideal bikini line without causing ingrown hairs.

A thin layer of shaving cream is next, say skincare experts. However, do not apply huge puffs of shaving cream. You want to be able to still see your skin and hair shaft underneath as you proceed. Don’t use your boyfriend’s shaving cream. Instead, choose one for women that include super moisturizing ingredients. Some of these would be coconut oil, shea butter or olive oil. These nourishing oils make for easy razor gliding.

Make sure you are shaving in the correct direction. Go with the hair growth. Shave against the grain, and red bumps and annoying ingrown hairs may result. Do not keep reshaving over the same area. One pass should clip the hair. Never press hard with the razor to cause unnecessary friction.

Another interesting tip is for post-shaving your bikini line. Fashion pros recommend staying away from lacy or nylon fabrics for 24 hours. Instead, slip on cotton undies that are soft and don’t have tight elastic bands. Even fabric can irritate newly shaven skin in the delicate bikini area. Nylon undies can create friction as you move about. This can result in the development of ingrown hairs.

Shaving is a part of women’s grooming, and most of us do it. A shave is fast and convenient whether you’re at home or traveling. Many of us like a neater bikini edge without those pesky ingrown hairs. Just a few extra steps will help you avoid the nicks, bumps, irritation or trapped hair follicles.

The Beauty Sandwich Is the Celebrity Skin Care Treatment Trying to Replace Needles

Celebrities are raving about this new skin care treatment that will make you look younger without the needles! The Beauty Sandwich is a skin treatment developed in 2010 by Ivan Pol, a skincare guru. Many celebrities including Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller, and even Victoria’s Secret models have caught on to the treatment.

The Beauty Sandwich' Is the Celebrity Skin-Care Treatment Trying to Replace Needles

What is it?
It is an alternative to Botox and fillers that are non-toxic. The process can plump, sculpt, and soften the face all without needles or knives. According to, this skin care treatment is a more holistic approach to wellness and anti-aging.

How is it done?
You start with a consultation, where Ivan asks about your skin goals and current skincare routine, to customize the procedure. This is followed by natural skin cleansing and a facial massage. Two tools called Pelleve and eMatrix are then used to deliver energy to the skin. The methods used are radio frequency to heat the skin and infrared light to sculpt muscles. This step aids the skin in producing new collagen and elastic fibers.

The skin’s collagen production fights against wrinkles and other signs of aging.
The final steps are a natural enzyme massage, and a recommendation to follow up with probiotics and antibiotics. This is to prevent inflammation of the skin. Ivan Pol gives clients a note of reminders, including “Tell yourself you are beautiful every day”.

Where to get it?
There are currently two locations where you can get the Beauty Sandwich skin care treatment. The first is Ivan Pol’s headquarters in West Hollywood, California. The second is Ivan Pol’s pop-up shop in New York City. This shop is located in Surrey’s Cornelia Spa in Manhattan.

Is it worth it?
Ivan Pol claims clients notice a reshaping of the face within two weeks of receiving the first treatment. Contrarily, some say that Botox and fillers are the better options. This is because Botox and fillers are a one-time treatment and have immediate results.
Ivan Pol recommends three months of these beauty treatments for the full results.

Ivan says after 1-3 days clients notice a “glow”. Between 4-15 days the body starts the collagen rebuilding process. By 15 days, the natural remodeling of the face begins. The collagen regrowth process then continues weeks and months after the treatment.

Some people say this natural beauty treatment will not fully replace Botox and fillers, due to the minor inconveniences. However, there are also inconveniences (and bigger risks) that can come from going under the knife or getting injections. For example, accidentally puncturing the wrong blood vessel in the face can cause long term damage.

Surgical skin treatments like Botox can cost up to $1200 per session. For $850 and only 45 minutes to an hour per session, the Beauty Sandwich seems worth it if you’re are already in the market for treatment. It is a better alternative if you don’t want to wait for long recovery time. This is also an appealing treatment if you want a holistic, non-toxic approach to anti-aging.

Why It’s So Damn Satisfying To Peel Your Sunburn

Sunburn We’ve all probably peeled miles worth of skin in our lifetime, but what made it feel so relaxing? It’s got to be some kind of natural need to stay clean. You definitely don’t want to let that nasty stuff fall off on its own! It’s a totally controversial topic for most doctors. Should you scrub that flaky skin off? Is it better just to leave it alone? Let’s look at both sides, and we’ll find out for ourselves!

Why You Shouldn’t Pick At It

Sunburn happens when the harmful rays of the sun damage you’re top-layer of skin. It’s not really burning us like when we touch a hot stove. It’s all those light-waves that get absorbed from being outside. Your body is basically shedding all of the dead skin cells that got killed from too much sunshine. We should think of it as a big blister. You wouldn’t want to keep picking at a scab because scabs protect cuts from germs. Leftover skin puts a barrier on your body to protect your healing skin from infections. It’s like a big band-aid.

If you’re interested in hearing more about why it’s bad to peel your dead skin away, then you should check this out. The rest of us normal people can keep reading about why it feels so good to peel every inch of it.

Why You’re Going To Peel It Anyways

Some people like to do all kinds of gross personal-grooming. I’m not really into popping pimples, but I love a satisfying peel after feeling the burn. There’s just something so relaxing about trying to pull off a huge piece of skin without ripping it! No one really knows why we love to do it. You’re sure to find lots of guesses on the internet. It could be a genetic trait passed down from your parents. I think it’s just a coping mechanism for me. It’s so nice to get over the pain of the sunburn.

The fact is that most people are just going to keep doing it every time they get back from the beach. It definitely doesn’t look good to walk everywhere with the stuff hanging off of you. It’s even worse when flakes rub off while I’m out having dinner. I just can’t stand to look at it, and I know you probably feel the exact same way. Its human-nature to clean off anything that looks unusual. We’ve always got to look our best.

What Should We Do To Prevent Infections?

You’re mom always told you to wash your hands all the time for a good reason. We both know that you’re going to pick your dry skin off, so you might as well keep your fingernails clean. Only do it after a shower. That way we can all keep our risks of infection down to a minimum. It doesn’t hurt to carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you in your purse. The last thing I want is a rash where my satisfying peel used to be!

Cellulite……ugh. It happens to the best of us, and it does not discriminate. We eat right, we exercise, we do whatever we can to prolong the unsightly appearance of dimpled skin, but we are all at risk for developing these fatty deposits under the skin that make us hesitant to wear what we dare.

The 30 Best Foods For Tackling Cellulite

What causes it?
While the exact cause of this condition is unknown, there seems to be a problem with the interaction between the connective tissue just beneath the skin and the layer of fat beneath it. Fat cells and connective tissue arrange themselves vertically underneath the skin, forming that unsightly “cottage cheese” texture that we all dread seeing in the mirror.

How can I prevent it?
Diet and exercise seem to be the best preventative measures that can be taken to prevent the formulation of cellulite. Just what are the best foods to consume in order to ensure that your skin stays smooth, supple, and young looking well into your golden years? Read on for our recommendations on what to eat to keep looking sleek:

1. Green tea—green tea is known as a great detoxifier, helping to speed up the metabolism and promote weight loss. Its rich flavonoid content also helps to remove subcutaneous fat deposits that can lead to uneven skin appearance.

2. Whole grains–foods such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole grain cereals are rich in fiber and protein, two essential elements for keeping the body running smoothly. The antioxidant content in these foods battles the “orange peel thighs” that no one wants as part of their legacy. Consume at least one serving a day for best results.

3. Saffron—some think it’s a superfluous seasoning, but its magical effects will have you clamoring for this little gem in the spice aisle. Saffron’s anti-inflammatory properties discourage fat cell expansion, encouraging the release of excess deposits under the skin. Add to chicken, rice, and cauliflower dishes for a wonderful flavor.

4. Blueberries—Blueberries are known to stimulate collagen growth, which aids in the growth and development of new skin cells. Eating a handful of berries has antioxidants that aid in combating signs of dryness and aging that can make fatty deposits more visible.

5. Dark chocolate—do we really need an excuse to eat more chocolate? Magnesium and iron-rich dark chocolate have healthy heart benefits, which can promote healthy circulation throughout the body. Healthy circulation can help combat the development of fatty deposits under the skin, making your whole body appear more youthful.

6. Grapefruit–any food that fights inflammation and promotes healthy hydration will help to fight excess cellulite. Combining grapefruit with healthy proteins and fats will improve the overall tone and texture of skin all over your body; eat up!

7. Avocado–guac lovers, rejoice! Snacking on your favorite dip will help improve your skin’s appearance! Avocado contains plenty of good fat and fiber, two elements that encourage healthy detoxification which leads to healthy skin. Avocado’s neutral flavor makes it a perfect addition to desserts, smoothies, and dips; it’s versatile enough to incorporate into all meals.

8. Water–water is the universal cleansing agent. It helps to promote the body’s natural detoxification systems and encourages healthy circulation and proper regulation of all of the body’s systems. 8-10 glasses per day are recommended for optimal hydration.

9. Broccoli–broccoli can be termed “king of all vegetables” for its nutrient value and delicious flavor. Alpha lipoic acid, an element present in broccoli, is responsible for boosting collagen production and ensuring that it doesn’t harden beneath the skin. Add some to soups, salads, and stir fry for beautiful skin.

10. Oranges–nature’s sweet “candy” is not only delicious, but it’s also good for your body. Large doses of vitamin C improve blood circulation and correct skin cell irregularities that can lead to unsightly “cottage cheese thighs”.

11. Asparagus–this is the secret veggie to the stars, who swear that its anti-inflammatory properties get them ready for red carpet events. It reduces bloat, encourages circulation, and delivers nutrient-dense goodness while remaining low in calories.

12. Salmon–salmon has long been known for its reputation as a superfood, and now we can add it to the list of illustrious foods that keep subcutaneous fat deposits at bay. Fatty acids present in this beautiful fish help to smooth things out underneath the skin, giving you a vibrant glow from the inside out.

13. Cayenne pepper–Beyonce made it popular to drink her cayenne pepper when she did the Master Cleanse; you don’t necessarily have to go that extreme to see benefits from this spicy ingredient. Cayenne warms the body internally, improving blood flow and circulation that can keep fat deposits at bay.

14. Turmeric–Turmeric is another superfood spice that can be used in various ways to improve your health. Throw some in your favorite curry for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits that will improve your health.

15. Garlic–who doesn’t love a bit of garlic in everything? Not only does it lower cholesterol, but it is also a great immunity booster and a natural antibiotic. Being heart healthy, it can improve circulation that leads to healthy looking skin.

16. Watermelon–ruby red lycopene improves circulation and keeps your heart healthy. It also smooths out skin and improves texture. A few slices on a hot day are good for the body and the summer soul.

17. Tomatoes–tomatoes are also rich in lycopene and have many similar benefits to watermelon. Include them in salads, soups, and sauces, and watch your skin take on a beautiful and youthful glow.

18. Apricots–nature’s sweet bounty is rich in fiber, vitamins A and C; consider switching out your afternoon snack for a few slices with almonds, and watch unsightly fat deposits shrink with every snack.

19. Bananas–bananas are a great source of energy, and they are rich in potassium. Zinc present in these golden beauties will also improve the look and feel of skin. Tuck one in your bag for the middle of the day pick me up.

20. Lemon–despite their acidic nature, lemons have a wonderful alkalizing effect on the body, which aids in the elimination of toxins that can lead to excess fat buildup. Squeeze some in a refreshing iced tea or sprinkle over a salad for maximum benefits.

21. Beetroot–this purple vegetable might not be first in your mind when you think about blasting away body fat, but the powerful combination of lycopene, potassium, and vitamin A all work cohesively to promote a detoxifying effect throughout the body.

22. Cabbage—cabbage cleans the body brilliantly, and it is a natural antiseptic and diuretic, which allows the body to shed excess water that can lead to dimpling of the skin.

23. Eggs–in the past few years, egg yolks have gotten a bad rap. Despite the scare on high cholesterol content, these nutritionally-dense beauties are loaded with fatty acids and antioxidants that promote healthy skin. Scramble a few and start off your day the right way.

24. Dandelion tea–most teas have powerful antioxidant effects, but this one takes the cake. Known for its natural ability to pull toxins out of your system, it will scrub you clean from the inside out, leaving you feeling and looking your best.

25. Greek yogurt–the high protein content of this power snack will encourage the development of lean muscle mass, which is a very potent fat burner. Combine a daily serving with some fresh berries for an added antioxidant boost.

26. Coconut oil–you might be asking yourself, “How can fat help get rid of fat?” Medium chain fatty acids present in coconut oil encourage the metabolism of subcutaneous fat; drizzle some on salads or throw a teaspoon in your morning coffee to get your metabolism going.

27. Cilantro–not only does it taste great, but it encourages the flushing of harmful toxins and heavy metals from your body that could irritate connective tissue beneath the skin. Use a spring here and there to give your meal some Southwest flare.

28. Almonds–one of nature’s true superfoods, almonds are good for just about anything that ails you. In this case, almonds reduce inflammation, hydrate the body, and are a source of healthy fat that can be used to stimulate the burning of stored fat in the body, thus reducing the possibility of unsightly lumps and bumps. Just a handful a day is enough to fuel your body with some much-needed energy as well.

29. Buckwheat–its popularity is beginning to take off in health food communities, and with any luck, it will reach the rest of us. Buckwheat gives other whole grains a run for their money; rich in lysine, it increases the absorption of oxygen in the body so that you become a fat burning monster.

30. Parsley—once thought of as only garnish-worthy, we are now finding that parsley has several other side hustles that make it not only appropriate but desirable, for consumption. Parsley is adept at flushing out the kidneys, purifying the blood through the release of toxins, and rebuilding skin tissue with vitamins A and E so that you look and feel vibrant and healthy.

There you have it, some of the best foods around for the elimination of cottage cheese thighs. When used in combination with a sensible meal plan and a little bit of exercise, you might even be able to ward off what once might have been thought genetically destined. Here’s to food that heals!

What is Demodex Folliculorum? Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Demodex Folliculorum is a mite parasite that exists on humans, especially in hairy parts of the body. These mites go unnoticed for the most part. But if a large number of these mites remain present on your skin, you’ll have some annoying skin problems and unusual symptoms. D. Folliculorum mites live on dead skin cells, body oils, and hormones that build upon the skin. These creatures tend to occur more often in males than females and in people who are from 20 to 30 years old.

What is Demodex Folliculorum Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Who is most affected by D. folliculorum mites?

People with inadequate immune systems tend to have the most problems with this little parasite. Also, people who take steroids have cancer or liver disease, or who have HIV may find themselves itching and with peeling skin due to the mites. Certain people may be genetically prone to the D. Folliculorum mite. If your eyes suffer from ocular rosacea, you may also need to deal with the parasites bothering your eyes.

What are the health issues caused by D. folliculorum?

Blepharitis. Blepharitis is an inflammation in the eyelids that may be caused by the mites. Blepharitis feels like watery, crusty, red eyelids.
Androgenetic alopecia. This type of alopecia remains hair loss that may be worsened by D. folliculorum mites.
Unspecific facial dermatitis, which has symptoms such as acne-like pimples, itching, and spots by the lips.

What are the symptoms of Demodex folliculorum?

A significant number of these mites cause symptoms that look very much like rosacea, like:

• Itching
• Dryness
• Red skin
• Blemishes like acne
• Redness of the eyes
• Sore and burning eyelids

How can I know if I have excessive D. folliculorum mites on my skin?

Your physician diagnoses the D. Folliculorum mite by examining the skin and taking a complete medical history. A skin biopsy confirms the diagnosis. If only a significant number of mites exist in the skin sample, you have the bugs in a large enough amount to be a problem to your skin. Doctors may apply chemicals to your skin to remove the mites. But there are also some treatments that you can use at home to help you with mite symptoms or prevent bugs from thriving on your skin.

How to reduce your chances of getting Demodex Folliculorum

Some necessary preventive measures you can take to keep the mite population down on your skin include:

• Washing your face twice per day with a gentle skin cleanser. If your eyes are irritated, you want to gently cleanse your eyelids with a no tears formula of baby shampoo.
• Don’t use oily or greasy cleansers or makeup on your face, as mites enjoy these as food.
• Use a facial mask or other methods to exfoliate your skin either once or twice a week gently.
• Use diluted tea tree (melaleuca) oil on the skin to kill the mites.

The thought of mites on your skin remains disquieting. The actions mentioned above reduce your chances of overpopulation of these mites on your skin.

You Probably Have Tiny Bugs Living on Your Eyelashes Right Now

The very idea of eyelash mites can send shivers up and down your spine, but they’re actually quite common. These mites are literally tiny microscopic bugs that live on the lashes of your eyes. They’re not visible to the naked eye, but they’re definitely there. It would be helpful to know exactly what eyelash mites are and what to do if you have them.

You Probably Have Tiny Bugs Living on Your Eyelashes Right Now

What in the world are these mites?

The official names for lash mites are Demodex Folliculorum and Demodex Brevis. Lash mites survive by being passed from person to person through skin contact. They live on the facial skin, focusing on the area around the eyelash follicles where they actually lay their eggs. They survive by eating sebum, mucous and other oils created or secreted by your glands and facial pores. The people who are most likely to have a lot of eyelash mites are those that sweat a lot, have oily skin and go to bed without taking off their makeup.

How do I know if I have them?

Your next big question is to figure out if you have mites. Chances are, you most definitely have them. Again they’re really common on the average person with oily skin, but there are also certain conditions that make it more likely for a person to have lash mites.

• People with conditions like blepharitis are prone to lash mites. Allergy-related or inflammatory conditions like these are major causes of mites.
• Women are generally more likely to have lash mites than men due to hormonal irregularities.
• Older people may have more lash mites than younger people because sebum production increases as you get older.

What if I don’t want mites on my eyelashes?

Even though you know by now that they’re extremely common, it’s most likely that this fact doesn’t bring you much comfort. Worse, they can cause an issue if there’s an infestation of them. Large amounts of lash mites can cause difficult skin issues. In order to get rid of mites, you need to get rid of the conditions that attract them in the first place.

• Blepharitis: If you’ve got blepharitis, simply apply a warm washcloth or moist compress over your eyes for a few minutes. This heated, moist cloth will allow you to wipe up buildup and crust around the eyes a lot easier. It can also help cut down on the number of secretions that come out of your eye as a result of blepharitis.

• Tea tree essential oils: tea tree oil is known to have antibacterial properties that kill off microorganisms around the skin. especially around the eyes. It’s particularly powerful in killing off Demodex, the eyelash mite.

It’s worth reminding you that these mites are very normal. On the other hand, it’s completely understandable that you don’t want them anywhere near your face, especially if they cause additional issues. The above tips can help get rid of them so that you can go back to your relatively bug-free self.

The ‘Pimple’ On This Woman’s Groin Turned Out To Be A living bug

Going on a honeymoon is supposed to be a relaxing time, bringing souvenirs, as well as memories but a 36-year-old woman brought back much more than that.

An unidentified woman came home from her honeymoon and began to notice a small bite-like lesion on her groin. She didn’t pay much attention to it until the small, itchy pimple continued to grow in annoyance. Thinking that it may be a bug bite or spider bite, she went to her doctor who only prescribed antibiotics and sent her home.

The 'Pimple' On This Woman's Groin Turned Out To Be A living bug.

The antibiotics failed to get rid of the bump, she went for a second opinion. At this point, the small bump had grown, festered and had developed a small hole in the center. The second medical opinion agreed that it’s a bug bite but how does the bump felt; it felt very hard to the touch. The doctor referred her to a surgeon to lance the bump and see what was growing and causing the issue.

When the procedure was performed, the surgeon lanced the wound and found live botfly larvae growing inside her skin.

Human botfly larvae are rarely seen as adults. Fully developed, they resemble a small, densely haired bumblebee. In larva form, they need warm, moist environments in which to grow. They are generally transmitted to the human host through a bite – from a mosquito or biting fly. This type of bite is the fourth most common travel-related skin issue, especially in tropical environments.

Once the egg is planted in the human host, the microscopic egg will thrive because of the heat of the human body. The egg hatches into a small larva which will grow and thrive for anywhere from 27-128 days. The small bite will continue to grow and fester leaving its host with an itchy, oozing pustule. The hole is formed to allow the botfly to breathe.

These bites usually occur in warm, moist places on the body such as the genitals, scalp, breast area, and even in the eye area. Many patients describe experiencing the feeling of the larva actually moving whenever the wound is covered or touched in any way.

Doctors report that such a bite is uncomfortable and, if left untreated, can become infected. The botfly larva itself doesn’t actually transmit any sort of disease. If left untreated, the larva will eventually grow large enough and make its way out on its own.

Treatment doesn’t usually require any sort of surgery. Many patients remove the botfly themselves. In areas where this is common, the treatment requires simply suffocating the larva by covering the wound with topical treatments such as petroleum jelly or nail polish (and even uncooked bacon strips!). In only a few hours, the larva, unable to breathe, will come to the surface head first. At that time, it can be extracted with a pair of tweezers or simply with pressure on both sides of the wound.

Not exactly the souvenir of choice, but it’s good to know that if it does happen to join you upon your return home, it isn’t dangerous and can be easily removed.

Skin Cancer Breakthrough: Vaccine 100% Effective

There is a new cancer vaccine that is 100% effective when treating aggressive melanomas. This is a major skin cancer breakthrough in the fight against cancer. The new development came when scientists gave an immunotherapy drug along with a chemical boost to eliminate melanoma. Melanoma is a malignant tumor which is linked to skin cancer.

Aside from helping to beat cancer, the drug can also help to prevent relapses in the future.

Cancer Immunotherapy Drug

Researchers from the Scripps Research Institute in California and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center started by screening 100,000 compounds which can boost a cancer immunotherapy drug known as anti-PD-L1.

This drug is designed as a tranquilizer of cancerous cells in such a way that they are unable to leave the body’s immune system.

In the process, the scientists found a chemical known as Diprovocim. This is a compound that binds to proteins and improves the immune system.

The researchers isolated the skin cancer patient with aggressive melanomas and gave some the drug anti-PD-L1 as well as an injection with Diprovicin. Some were only given anti-PD-L1.

Wonderful Findings

After 54 days, the scientists found that the group that was only given the drug had a zero percent rate of survival, while all those that received a combination survived.

According to Dale Boger from Scripps Research Institute, the combined therapy produced a complete response and a curative response in the treatment of melanoma. He adds that the same way a vaccine trains the body to fight off external pathogens, their new vaccine also trains the immune response to eliminate the tumor.

Boger noted that it was quite interesting to see the vaccine working along with a cancer immunotherapy like anti-PD-L1.

Relapse Prevention

After the trial, the researchers attempted to reintroduce the melanoma and they could not succeed.

In reference to a statement from Scripps, the researchers will henceforth plan to perform further pre-clinical testing with their vaccine design. They will also try to find out how it works with other cancer therapies.

Future Prospects

The new vaccine comes at a time when many people are dying from skin cancer in different corners of the world. The risk of developing skin cancer increases when someone spends more time in the sun. Symptoms normally include the formation of a new mole or a change in an existing mole. It can be difficult to identify the symptoms and doctors struggle to tell whether a skin blemish is really cancerous.

This study offers some hope to people living with skin cancer and those who are at an increased risk. However, more pre-clinical studies are still required before it can be introduced in humans.

How to Get Rid of Cellulite in Thighs at Home

Chances are, you’re sitting at your computer reading this while there are dimples of fat on your thighs and hips. That’s perfectly fine. I have them, too. All we women have them eventually. If you’re tired of looking at them, here are some popular treatments you can do at home.

1. Eat Tomatoes or Tomato Paste

So, apparently, tomatoes can help you to reduce the amount of cellulite in your body. I don’t know how true this is because I eat pizza with tomato sauce at least three times a week and my cellulite has only gotten worse. But, apparently, scientists and their little lab equipment have proof that a certain chemical called lycopene, which is present in tomatoes, can help to reduce the amount of cellulite within your body. Lycopene is a rich nutrient that can help to restore the collagen in your skin. Collagen is a compound that causes your skin to maintain its tightness and smooth appearance.

So, boosting your collagen production can help to reduce the look of your jiggly bits. That’s good to know. And, according to these same scientists, tomato paste is very rich in lycopene, so it’s a great alternative to tomatoes. Just be sure that you eat tomato paste from a glass jar instead of from a can. Tin cans contain BPA which is an industrial chemical. And sounds pretty scary, in my opinion. I wonder if I can get away with using tomato paste on my pizzas instead of tomato sauce.

2. Drink More Water

My doctor is always telling me to drink more water to improve my health. I’m sure your doctor tells you the same thing. I didn’t think there was an actual legitimate reason to increase my daily water intake, but there are actually several. In addition to aiding with digestion and improving cellular functions, increasing your daily water intake can actually prove to be an effective cellulite treatment. Just think of your skin as a giant sponge. Your skin loves to drink up and absorb water. Your skin needs water to remain supple, moisturized, and firm. Adding more glasses of water to your meals every day can not only help to reduce the look of your wobbly layers but it can also help you to lose weight which will reduce the amount of fat present under your skin. I’m no doctor, but having less fat under your skin sounds like a great way to slim down and smooth out your skin.

3. Vinegar and Honey Scrub

I would’ve never thought to combine these two items together to create a cellulite treatment scrub, but this sounds too good not to try. The basic premise behind this scrub is that you combine one part apple cider vinegar with two parts water. Mix these two liquids together thoroughly before adding a few drops of honey to the mixture. Once combined, rub the mixture over your body on the areas that need it. Leave the mixture on for a few minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

The apple cider vinegar will help to reduce the appearance of skin dimples by detoxifying your body and boosting your body’s ability to drain toxins and excess fluids. Deposits under the skin can also be the accumulation of fluids in addition to fats, so boosting your body’s ability to drain fluids that are being retained in your body fat will reduce the dimpled appearance of your fatty deposits. This sounds positively luxurious. I can’t wait to try this cellulite treatment myself.

Paintball Bruises: Treatment And Recovery Duration

Paintball is one of the most intense sports in the world. It is also very tough. If you cannot take some bumps and bruises, you should not get involved. Along the way, it is almost certain that you’re going to experience some aches and pains. Nevertheless, the adrenaline of the game will give you the ability to power through it, without any troubles. After the game has ended, you’re going to feel it. So, how can you treat those paintball bruises and how long will it take to fully recover? You’ll find out below.

Paintball Bruises Treatment And Recovery Duration.

Using Cold Compress

In many cases, your bruises will lead to swelling. Depending on the impacted area, the swelling can really decrease your mobility. Finding a way to eliminate the swelling immediately is pertinent. This is where a cold compress will enter the picture. Just apply a cold object to the impacted area. An ice pack, frozen peas or even a frozen steak will do the trick. The cold will reduce the swelling rapidly, while also reducing blood circulation. If you have to bleed, the cold will limit it greatly.

Keep It Elevated

It is also a good idea to keep the impacted limb elevated. If the bruise has developed on your chest or stomach, this might not be possible. However, if it is your leg or arm, you should do your best to prop the limb up at an angle. Make sure that it remains about the heart. If the wound is allowed to hang below the heart, it will receive more blood flow. That will result in more swelling and bleeding. Keeping it elevated will decrease swelling and bleeding.

Use Epsom Salt

Extreme Sports Land recommends Epsom Salt for paintball bruises. This is not a coincidence. Epsom Salt is one of the oldest remedies for bruises and wounds. It works exceptionally well for reducing pain and swelling associated with bruises and sprains. Even better is the fact that utilizing Epsom salt couldn’t be easier. Just run a warm bath and add two cups of Epsom salt. Take your bath as normal and your pain will be alleviated after you’ve exited the water. You can purchase Epsom salt online, at any pharmacy, or at your local big box store.

Heat After 48 Hours

After 48 hours, you’ll want to make the switch to heat. Just add hot water to a washcloth and apply it to the bruise for at least ten minutes. Continue this action three or four times each day. In return, this will increase the amount of blood circulation to the impacted area. That will cause the wound to heal much quicker.

Take Ibuprofen as Necessary

Even the strongest and toughest people in the world will experience pain that they cannot tolerate. If your pain becomes too much, you’ll want to consider taking Ibuprofen. Acetaminophen will work too. Just remember to follow the instructions on the label. The ibuprofen will help to null the pain, while also reducing swelling. Stay away from aspirin, because it could make the bleeding even worse! Also, do not overdo it. Take what is necessary and no more.

Signs and Symptoms Skin Care

Skin Allergies And Contact Dermatitis: All You Need to know Including Symptoms, Causes and Treatment

Some people call it rash, but medical experts refer to it as contact dermatitis. This condition occurs when the skin becomes red and tender once it comes into contact with something. It may be as a result of an allergic reaction or when the protective of the skin becomes damaged. Usually, you may not notice the rash when your skin touches something you are allergic to for the first time. However, the touch sensitizes your skin and a reaction can occur the next time. Chances are that you may have touched the trigger before without noticing if you get a rash on the first contact.

Skin Allergies And Contact Dermatitis All You Need to know Including Symptoms, Causes and Treatment

Common Causes of Skin Allergies and Contact Dermatitis

Your immune system is usually involved if it is an allergy. Once you touch something, it mistakenly thinks your body is being attacked. It swings into action, producing antibodies to deal with the invader. A number of events trigger the release of chemicals, such as histamine. That is exactly what prompts an allergic reaction, which is an itchy rash in this case. It is referred to as contact dermatitis.

Some of the most common triggers of contact dermatitis include:

Hair dyes
Poison oak, poison ivy, and poison sumac
Chemicals used in leather tanning
Certain medications applied to the skin
Latex rubber
Citrus fruit, particularly the peel
Nickel, a metal commonly found in buckles, belts, and jewelry
Fragrances in perfumes, soaps, shampoos, lotions, and some cosmetic products
Skin Damage

In some cases, rashes may appear like they are allergic reactions but it may not be the case since your immune system is not involved at all. Perhaps, you may have come into contact with something that removes the surface oil that shields your skin. The reaction may worsen depending on the duration that your skin was in contact with the trigger. People who are prone to eczema are at a higher risk of this kind of rash.

Identifying the Exact Cause and Symptoms of Contact Dermatitis

It can be quite intriguing in identifying the exact cause of your rash because the symptoms may be the same. In most cases, the skin blisters or a raised red rash may appear. The skin can also burn or itch. Some people with contact dermatitis may experience dryness and cracked skin.

Related Link: 8 Diabetes Warning Signs May Appear On Your Skin

You may instantly notice the rash when your skin comes into contact with something damaging or irritating. However, it may take a day or two before the rash shows if it is an allergy.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction mostly occur around the area where you touched something you are allergic to.
Skin damage or irritant contact dermatitis mostly burns and tends to be more painful than itchy.

The best way to deal with contact dermatitis is to avoid coming into contact with the trigger. It is recommendable to wash your skin using a mild soap and cool water whenever you get the opportunity. This will help in getting rid of all or most of the substance causing the problem. It can also go a long way in cutting back on the symptoms.
There are some instances where the rash only covers a small area of your skin. Applying a layer of hydrocortisone cream can bring relief.

If it is a blister, you should apply a cold moist press compress for around 30 minutes, thrice daily.
What about if your skin is damaged? Regular application of moisturizers several times a day will help to restore the protective layer of your skin.

You can also take oral antihistamines if your skin is itchy. It is important to contact your doctor before applying an antihistamine lotion. This is mainly because some antihistamine lotions can cause skin irritation or exacerbate allergic reactions.

When to Contact Your Doctor

You should see your doctor immediately if your rash becomes painful or fails to disappear after several days of treatment. Your doctor will examine your rash and ask you some questions in order to find out where the problem is coming from.

By accessing how severe your rash is, your doctor may recommend steroid ointment or pills, and an antihistamine. S/he will also perform some tests to find out what you are exactly allergic to.
Sometimes it may be difficult to avoid what is triggering an allergic reaction. Consider talking to your doctor about using creams or wearing gloves to keep your skin safe.

Preventing Contact Dermatitis

Always ensure that your skin is thoroughly cleansed after it comes into contact with an irritant or allergen.
Wear gloves and protective gear to protect your hands. You should take them off every now and then because sweating can worsen your symptoms.

Switch to other products that don’t irritate your skin.
Regularly apply emollients in large amounts to keep your skin well hydrated and protected from allergens or irritants.
