He took 60 people with type 2 diabetes, average age 52 and divided them into groups that would consume 1 gram, 3 grams, and 6 grams of powdered cinnamon in capsules after their daily meals. A control group was given capsules with wheat flour, an inert substance. The experiment lasted 40 days.

After forty days, blood sugar levels were significantly lower in the cinnamon group as much as 30 percent!! Interestingly, the people who consumed only 1 gram of cinnamon daily did as well as those on higher doses. The research also noted that blood glucose levels stayed low up to 20 days after the cinnamon ingestion! Best of all, there seems to be no downside to eating a gram of cinnamon a day. It has virtually no calories and it tastes great!


Additional Foods and Beverages that Lower Blood Sugar

So what other foods and beverages have been examined for possible blood-sugar lowering effects? Well, green tea has been found to have such effect, as with coffee. However, the catch with coffee is you have to drink at lease six cups a day, which is certainly not advisable. Researchers however have been focusing on the active ingredient in coffee which lowers blood-sugar though called chlorogenic acid…so don’t be too surprised if you see this in a pill form soon.

Red wine has an active ingredient that also lowers blood glucose levels. It is called resveratrol. However, to get the effect you would have to drink three glasses a day! …a tad too much! Other plant-derived materials have also claimed to reduce blood glucose levels, but eh supporting evidence has been sketching. These include fenugreek, bitter melon, Korean ginseng, onions, flaxseed.

Your feet do not produce natural oils, they rely on sweat glands to moisturize them and keep them soft. There are several things that can keep your body from doing this itself. These include diabetes, thyroid trouble, any chronic illness that affects your skin, edema, and aging. It can also be caused by bacteria, vitamin deficiencies, overexposure to water, shoes that don’t fit properly, and lack of air circulation around the feet.

There are some easy at home remedies for dry cracked feet to try, and some good common sense rules of thumb to use. If your moisturizer or foot lotion lists its first ingredient as water, it’s not going to solve the problem. Water dries you back out. There are things probably in your fridge and kitchen cupboards right now that can put your feet on the path to smoothness.

  • 1 cup of white vinegar to 2 gallons warm water, soak for 30-45 minutes once a week, rinse, dry, apply moisturizer and socks
  • 1/2 cup baking soda to 1 gallon warm water, stir until dissolved, soak 30-45 minutes, rinse, dry, apply moisturizer and socks
  • 1-2 gallons warm water, few drops tea tree oil, soak, rinse, dry, moisturize, apply socks – this works great if it’s from bacteria or fungus
  • 1-2 gallons warm water, 2-3 Tablespoons lemon juice, soak, rinse, dry, etc.


Instead of lotion try some olive oil, coconut oil, or any kitchen oil, you can add a drop or 2 of an essential oil to make it smell good if you like, make sure it is an essential oil and not a fragrance oil, most fragrance oils have an additive that makes them unsafe for skin application. One great mixture is one tablespoon of olive oil and a few drops of lemon juice, mix it up and rub it on. Always use clean cotton socks afterward; cotton will allow air to circulate while your feet soak up the moisture of the oil.

Directions: Use 4 heaping tablespoons of dried sage in 1 cup of boiling water. Cover tightly, and steep for 4 hours or more. Strain, then drink.

7. Thyme — Reduces cough, bronchitis, sinus pressure

Thyme tea is perfect to relax the bronchial spasms caused by the trigger coughing due to colds and similar afflictions.
Directions: Use 2 teaspoons of dried thyme per cup of boiling water, steep for 10 minutes, and drink three times a day.
