As summer approaches many of us go to beautiful beaches to grab a piece of sun and have a tan. Look at some cases of failed tanning to see what an extremist can do to his/her body. Extreme tanning increases the risk of skin cancer dramatically. Of course many of these tanning fails has happened in tanning beds or they’re just coloring.

The best way to reduce skin cancer risk is avoiding unprotected exposure to sunlight and other sources of ultraviolet light. The easiest way to avoid exposure to UV light is to keep out of the sun and stay in the shade whenever possible. This is particularly important at noon, when UV light is more intense.

Remember, if you’re tanning, always wear a sunscreen to reduce the risk of skin cancer. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (that protects against UVA – UVB) with SPF of 15 or greater to all exposed skin 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours and after swimming.
