How to Treat Anxiety Naturally

Anxiety is a state of fear or apprehension in the face of threat or danger. It is a natural, healthy response since it allows the body to prepare itself to cope with danger. Anxiety can, however, take a person over, a condition known as anxiety neurosis, and the person is then said to be in an anxiety state, it becomes a problem only when its degree is out of proportion to the problem, or when there is no objective, the external reason for it.

This may be chronic anxiety, with a constant feeling of worry, associated with depression, or an acute anxiety attack, when the sufferer will be suddenly overwhelmed by fear and feelings of dread.
There are many symptoms that appear when anxiety attacks such as dry hands, sweaty palms, and rapid pulse and palpitations. In anxiety neurosis: breathlessness, and fatigue, the feeling of tightness in the chest, high blood pressure, abdominal pain and diarrhea, insomnia, and loss of appetite or overindulgence.
When you feel overloaded, a little self-indulgence can work wonders, perhaps a relaxing bath by candlelight or a soothing massage may help, but if anxiety and nervousness are taking over your life, do not hesitate to consult a professional.
Try the following natural remedies to reestablish your equilibrium.

Valerian and lemon balm stabilize emotional balance when you add a few drops to your bathwater, as do lavender, bergamot, sandalwood, or cedar.
For a fragrant and relaxing herbal bath, boil up about3 ½ ounces each of chamomile, linden, and lavender flowers in 2 quarts/liters of water for 30 minutes. Strain and pour into hot bathwater. Add a little music and you’ve got the perfect soak.
Sandalwood reduces anxiety and nervousness. Mix 3 drops of sandalwood oil with 1 tsp. of almond oil and gently massage your shoulders, neck, arms, and legs.
To help calm your nerves and for a restful sleep make a sachet of hops flowers and place it under your pillow.

Peppermint, basil, sage, and lavender make a perfect calming mixture for a scent burner.
Calming oats are an excellent tonic for the nervous system, oats provide both nourishment and energy. They contain vitamin E, iron, zinc, manganese, and protein, which help to lower cholesterol levels.
