Don’t Hope…..Decide

There was a man named Oliver who was waiting at the airport to pick up a friend when he had a life-changing experience that other people only talk about.

While he was waiting at the airport to locate his friend among the passengers, he suddenly noticed a man coming towards him with two light bags. The man stopped right next to him to greet his family.
As he laid down his bags, he motioned towards his youngest son who was about six years old. They gave each other a long and loving hug and then they separated looking at each other’s face. Father said to his son how much he missed him and then the son said that he missed his dad as well.

Then the man turned towards his oldest son who must have been about 9 or 10 years old and cupping his son’s face in his hands said that he is already a young man now. They hugged each other lovingly.

While this was happening, a baby girl who was squirming excitedly in her mother’s arm had her eyes fixed on the wonderful sight of her returning father. The man gently took the baby girl from her mother and said, “How are you baby?” He started kissing her all over the face while holding her close to his chest and rocking her from side to side. The little girl placed her head on her father’s shoulder and relaxed.

Don’t Hope…..Decide

After some time he handed over her daughter to his oldest son and proceeded towards his wife to give a very long and passionate kiss which can remind anyone of a newly married couple but they were certainly not newly married. After the long kiss, he held her hands affectionately and said, “I love you so much,” and they smiled at each other.

While all this was happening, Oliver was looking at it mesmerized and was completely engrossed in this wonderful display of unconditional love. He was thinking in his mind that they must have been away from each other for months and suddenly he asked the man, “How long have you two been married?” the man replied, “Been together for fourteen years and married twelve of those,” and looked at his wife’s face. Oliver immediately asked a second question, “Then how long have you been away?” The man replied with a smile, “Two whole days.”

Oliver was stunned by this reply as he was expecting they had been separated for a long time. In this confused state of mind, Oliver said, “I hope my marriage is still that passionate after twelve years.”

The man turned towards Oliver, stopped smiling and said something to him that changed him as a person, “Don’t hope my friend. Decide.” He smiled again, shook hands with Oliver and went away.
Making decisions in life is important. Just hoping for something and not taking any action will never help us achieve what we want in life. Making decisions in life paves the way for future actions and helps us to know how we can reach our destination.

Falling (?) in Love

First of all I think “falling in love” is a silly thing to say. You can fall into mud, or a puddle, or a lake,
