Minty Green Shake

One of my favorite things about this time of year is a delicious mint flavored shake, but I don’t need all the fat and chemicals that are in a typical fast-food treat. This is a delicious version to make yourself at home, with only a few ingredients, and greatly reduced fat and calories. This recipe makes 2, you can halve or double, according to your needs. Yum!

mint shakes

Ingredients:
2 cups vanilla bean low-fat frozen yogurt slightly softened(I use Greek)
1/2 – 3/4 cup skim milk, you can also use soy or almond milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract, to taste
a few drops green food coloring
coarsely chopped dark chocolate or cacao for garnish, if desired
sprigs of fresh mint for garnish, if desired

Place everything but garnish into blender, beat until smooth, pour into glasses, garnish as desired, enjoy!
