9 Ways To Add Body Volume To Your Flat Hair

Are you tired of having flat, lifeless hair? A fuller head of hair can give you a more polished and vivacious look, and help you to love what you see in the mirror. Here are some easy ways to add volume to fine, limp hair.

Flat Hair

1. Wash your hair just the right amount.

Limp hair can sometimes be caused be greasiness. It’s important to wash your hair regularly. At the same time, washing your hair every single day is bad for your hair, as it strips the scalp of its natural oils. The ideal frequency of hair-washing is every 2-4 days, depending on your hair type. Every 2 days is good if your hair is naturally oily. Every 3 days is appropriate for those with a normal hair type. Every 4 days is better for those with dry hair. If you’re not sure what your hair type is, experiment with how often you wash your hair and see which frequency makes your hair look its best.

2. Make sure you’re using the right shampoo.

The shampoo you use should be formulated for your hair type. If you have oily or normal hair and you use a shampoo designed for dry hair, it can weigh your hair down and make it greasier.

3. Use a conditioner that suits your hair type.

Like shampoo, you should use an appropriate conditioner. If you use a conditioner that’s too heavy for your hair type, it could weigh down your hair with excess oils. Also, only use conditioner on the ends of your hair, avoiding the roots. This will help your hair have more volume.

4. Watch what styling products you use.

The wrong styling products can weigh down your hair. For hairsprays, gels, serums and other styling products, choose products that are formulated for your hair type and that are meant to volumize.

5. Blow dry your hair upside down.

Blow drying your hair upside down is one of the most popular ways to create more volume. Aim for the roots as much as possible. Don’t forget to use a heat protectant!

6. Use mousse or another volumizing styling product.

Mousse and other volumizing products are great for using when you blow-dry your hair. However, don’t use too much or it will weigh down your hair and make it look flatter. Use a moderate amount.

7. Add texture to boost volume.

Adding gentle curls or waves to your hair can create the illusion of fuller hair. You can avoid heat damage by braiding your hair overnight or using foam rollers. If overnight curling doesn’t work for you, make sure to use plenty of heat protectant spray every time you style with heat.

8. Wear a hairstyle that creates the illusion of fuller hair.

Sock buns and teasing your hair are two popular ways that you can make your hair look fuller. Do some research and find some volumizing styles that you love.

9. Don’t let product buildup from in your hair.

Conditioners and styling products can leave a film behind in your hair after a while. This can weigh down your hair and make it look dull. To counteract this, add about a tablespoon of baking soda to your shampoo. Since baking soda is base, rinse it out with diluted vinegar, which is acidic, so that the pH balance of your hair will not be disturbed. Do this once or twice a month, maybe once a week if you use a lot of styling products every day.

You don’t have to settle for the hair you were born with. With these easy tips, you can improve your appearance. And if you look good, you feel good!
