This Curvy Yogi Inspires People of All Shapes and Sizes

When we think of yoga, most of us envision tall, thin women who look flawless in tight yoga pants and sports bras. However being thin doesn’t directly equal optimal health and fitness should be part of everyone’s life. Study after study has proven that practicing yoga can improve both physical and mental health. From the focus to the flexibility and strength, yoga is a great way to fine tune your body.

In sunny California, Valerie Sagun can be found striking yoga poses that are unattainable for most of us. This beauty embraces her body as it is and her confidence is contagious. She began practicing yoga during a kinesiology class while studying for her college degree. The encouragement she received from her yoga instructor helped her to break through her own body-image concerns that had held her back for so long.

Through her yoga lessons she learned to step outside of her comfort zone in order to achieve her goals. Letting go of any thought that her life needed to wait until she shed some pounds, Valerie’s world expanded quickly and she began doing things she never thought possible.

As her belief in herself grew she began documenting her journey on Instagram. Her number of followers quickly grew, further inspiring her to continue her yoga journey and accept her position as an ambassador of self-love and body positivity.
