2. Little Miss Sunshine

As soon as you get out of bed, open your blinds to let the light in. The sun’s light shuts down the lingering traces of melatonin, the sleep hormone, that are still floating around in your brain. It also helps jump-start your metabolism for the day.

3. The Most Important Meal

Everyone knows that a good breakfast can prevent you from hunger-induced junk food binges. However, a piece of toast and some orange juice aren’t going to cut it. You need protein to really feel satisfied. Boiled or poached eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit and nuts are some excellent options.

Even if you don’t have time in the morning to pack yourself a healthy lunch, you should at least throw a few nutritious and low-calorie snacks in your purse. Mid-day hunger has a way of driving you to make poor snacking choices. However, you’re much less likely to do this if you already have healthier options on hand when you need them.

7. Workout to Work

Consider parking a few blocks away from your job, or catching the bus a couple of stops down. This gives you a convenient reason to walk more, which helps amp up your metabolism and burn off some decent calories. Just make sure you’re dressed for the weather and wearing the proper shoes.
