How To Make Natural Eyeliner And Mascara

Some people feel incomplete without mascara and eyeliner. These are an important elements of a make-up kit. Its important to use skin-friendly mascara and eyeliner as these products can cause itchy eyes or allergies due to chemicals present in them. We are going to tell you how you can make your own eyeliner and mascara:

MASCARA
Items needed:
1. Coconut Oil – 2 tablespoons (30 mL)
2. Aloe Vera gel – 4 tablespoons (60 mL)
3. Beeswax – ½ tablespoon (7.5 mL)
4. Activated charcoal – 2 capsules
5. Mascara container

Directions:
1. Mix coconut oil, beeswax and aloe vera gel in a saucepan on low heat. Keep stirring until the wax is entirely melted.
2. Mix the capsules with the solution completely then remove pan from heat.
3. Pour the mixture into a small plastic bag, like a sandwich bag, and push it towards one corner. Cut a small hole in the opposite corner.
4. Make a tip by folding the corner and put the tip inside your mascara container so you can easily pour the mixture inside the container. Use caution as it may stain your hands.
5. Once the mixture is completely in the tube, your mascara is ready. Don’t push the mixture in too quickly as it can make a mess. Put the lid on and there is your homemade mascara.

Notes:
1. You can use more beeswax if you live in a warm climate by 1 tablespoon, this will also also give more hold to your mascara and make it waterproof.
2. You can find activated charcoal in any health food store. If you do not want to use charcoal you can use cocoa powder.

EYELINER
Items needed:
1. Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons (30 mL)
2. Aloe Vera gel – 4 teaspoons (20 mL)
3. Activated charcoal – 1-2 capsules (for black)
4. ½ tablespoon (7.5 mL) cocoa powder (for brown)
5. Tube for finished product

Directions
1. Mix coconut oil, aloe vera gel, and activated charcoal or cocoa powder in a saucepan and place on low heat stirring constantly until completely melted.
2. Remove from heat and let it cool.
3. Take a plastic bag and pour the mixture in the bag pushing towards one corner. Cut a small hole in the opposite side of the bag.
4. Make a tip by folding the bag, put the tip inside the container and push the mixture towards your container slowly.
5. When the mixture is completely in the tube, your homemade eyeliner is ready, chemical-free and healthy for your eyes.

Note:
Make sure you keep the tube in a cool, dry place and use a clean brush. Change your brush every 6 months and replace your eyeliner if it starts to smell bad.
