Joint pain is a serious problem, many people suffer with severe joint pain sometime in their life. Mentioned below are some ways to protect your joints.
1. Don’t lift heavy objects, slide them
Lifting heavy objects in an incorrect way is a common cause of joint pain and muscle injuries. An easy way to avoid this is to avoid lifting all together. Whenever possible, don’t try to lift heavy objects by yourself, instead try to slide them. This will keep pressure from your joints and protect them.
Spending 30 minutes three times a week working out is a good way to keep joints pain-free. Light exercise like cycling, running, swimming, and light weight-training are best for joints. Consult your doctor before starting any exercise program to ensure that its safe for you.
3. Eat healthy
The overall health of our joints and bones largely depends on the type of food we eat. For maintaining healthy joints its essential to maintain a healthy diet rich in calcium, iron, and other essential nutrients. Eating more fruits and veggies and less fast food is helpful. Mutton is very good for joint health.
4. Stretch regularly
Daily exercise when coupled with regular stretching multiplies the effect on joints. Stretching opens blocked blood vessels and arteries which results in better blood flow which leads to healthy joints. Stretching also removes stiffness making you more flexible.
5. Adequate rest
Giving appropriate rest to your joints is good for maintaining their health. Taking a break relaxes your mind and removes pain from your joints. It takes away muscle fatigue after workouts as well.
6. Use it to keep it
Its important to keep your joints moving. Using them daily to perform your daily tasks keeps them active. Its like using a machine to keep up and running for a longer period of time. Using them regularly increases the capacity of joints to absorb essential nutrients from the food we eat.
7. Take warm shower
Taking a bath with warm water eases the pain of arthritis and provides a feeling of relief. Moist heating pads can also be used to provide instant relief from the pain. Its also a good idea to soak sore hands in warm water.
8. Maintain healthy weight
Being overweight is a primary cause of arthritis pain. It puts excessive stress on your joints making them over-utilized which results in pain and arthritis.
9. Dress & undress carefully
We don’t usually focus much on our joints and muscles while dressing and undressing. While removing clothes don’t try to pull one arm out, reach for one arm around the neck hole located at the back and pull towards the front.
10. Reorganize shelves and drawers
If you have to bend over many times to access things kept in your shelves and drawers its time to reorganize them. Bending repeatedly puts more strain on your joints resulting in pain. Organize your shelves in a way that they are easily accessible.
