Folic acid may be responsible for increasing the risk of cancer. Most multi-vitamins contain a synthetic form of folate, one of the B vitamins, which is directly proportional to risk of prostate cancer. Folate in food actually reduces risk.

Have sex more often

Several studies have suggested that having sex more often reduces the risk of prostate cancer. Ejaculation clears the prostate of carcinogens which reduces the risk of prostate cancer. More than 12 ejaculations per month are required to nullify the risk.

Visit the spice rack more often

Researchers at the centre for Holistic Urology at Columbia suggest that a mix of herbs like oregano, ginger, and rosemary can reduce the growth of prostate cancer cells by more than 78%. Green tea also has anti-cancer properties.

Wine and dine

A recent study at the National Cancer Institute proved that men who consumed more than 10 grams of garlic daily were 50% less prone to the risk of prostate cancer than those who did not. Red wine contains resveratrol, an antioxidant which helps inhibit the growth of prostate cancer.

Don’t dry clean

Most dry cleaners use percs, a substance that can cause damage to kidneys. Over time it can lead to cancer. If you have clothes that need dry cleaning, air them before wearing or search for a cleaner that doesn’t use the solvent.

Eat more cereal

Eating cereal in the morning is a healthy habit. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, add almond or soy milk and reduce your risk of prostate cancer.
