The Importance of Water and Salt!

The Importance of Water and Salt!

By Dr. Michael L. Johnson, Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist

The importance of “GOOD SALT!”

Salt is sodium chloride, or NaCl.  Your body will use the chloride (Cl) molecule to make hydrochloric acid (HCL) or stomach acid.  The reason many suffer from acid reflux is because they have too little HCL so when they eat, they are not able to digest their food which creates lactic acid.  It is lactic acid the “refluxes” back up into the esophagus creating acid reflux or GERD.

HCL is vitally important to your health!  HCL creates methyl groups the help to turn on “good” genes and turn off “mutated genes.”  HCL is also very important for lymphatic drainage. Your lymphatic system is your garbage collection system of the body. This is why it is crucial to eat GOOD SALT!  Notice how I put that in all caps – GOOD SALT is the key!  You have to avoid the WHITE DEATH which is over-heated, over-processed, chemically-laden white salt.  You should use Pink Salt instead, which is high in calcium, magnesium and other important trace minerals.  These minerals help to keep your body alkaline instead of acidic.  Even manufacturers of “good” sea salts grind their salt with cheap, inexpensive stainless steel screens that leave nickel residues in the salt. Eating this salt contributes to more heavy metals in your system.  Eating a good, high quality salt is extremely important for kidney, adrenal, stomach and gall bladder function.  As a side note, if you have kids, it is VERY IMPORTANT that they have a good source of salt in their diet like Pink Salt.

Why you need to Drink More Water!

Many of my patients have been chronically dehydrated for years.  If you are suffering from ANY chronic disease, you need to drink more water!  How much?  You need to be drinking at least ½ oz. of water per lb. of body weight.  If you weigh 150 lbs., you need to drink at least 75 oz. of good, high quality water per day.  My family and I drink distilled water, but you can also drink filtered water.  Think about it – your kidneys filter about 200 liters of blood per day, and if you do not drink enough water, your kidneys and adrenal glands will be unable to function.

Water lubricates joints, lessens the burden on your kidneys and liver by removing waste products, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, helps to dissolve minerals and other nutrients to make them accessible to the body, helps prevent constipation, protects body organs and tissues and it moistens tissues such as the eyes, nose and mouth.

Please, DO NOT drink tap water because it is loaded with chemicals, especially fluoride and chlorine.  Stop consuming liquids like coffee, sodas, “energy” drinks, caffeine, and alcohol because they all dehydrate your body.   When you are suffering with a chronic disease, dehydration is the LAST thing that you want to do to your body!

Fluoride and Chlorine

Fluoride and Chlorine compete with the iodine molecule in the thyroid!  Let me say that again because it is so important…Fluoride and Chlorine compete with the iodine molecule in the thyroid!

Your thyroid runs your metabolism – it is the “gas-pedal” of the body.  Your thyroid uses iodine to make thyroid hormones T3 and T4. Fluoride and chlorine COMPETE with iodine in the body.  When you have fluoride and chlorine competing with iodine, you end up with thyroid symptoms like fatigue, loss of hair, mental sluggishness, cold hands and feet, weight gain and dryness of the skin.   Where do you get fluoride and chlorine?  In tap water, toothpaste, pesticides, hair colorings and hair dyes.

Check out the side effects of fluoride…

Stop drinking tap water today!
