Look & Feel Great In Your 60s With These 6 Tips

You don’t have to skimp on style just because you’ve entered your sixth decade. People of any age can look and feel great, as long as they take care of their health, follow a skincare regimen and know how to show off their best assets.

Look Feel Great In Your 60s With These 6 Tips

1. Take Care of Your Skin

Nothing shows age as quickly as the skin. Maintain your youthful glow by using products that ward off wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin. Look for products that contain antioxidants, skin-identical ingredients and cell-communicating ingredients. Antioxidants, like vitamins A and E, help to prevent free radical damage and heal skin. Skin-Identical ingredients help to improve the texture of the skin, and to repair the outer barrier of the skin. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen and fatty acids fall under this category. Cell-communicating ingredients, like retinols and niacinamide, help to reduce cellular skin damage. The most important skincare product, however, is sunscreen. Never leave the house without it.

2. Exercise

It is important to stay active in your sixties. Exercise improves heart health and bone density, which can help people live long and healthy lives. Physical activity also releases endorphins in the brain, which improves emotional well being.

3. Makeup

When you enter your sixties, it may be time to change your makeup routine. People who previously used concealer to cover up imperfections should switch to foundation, as it is less likely to settle in wrinkles. Blush should be applied to the apples of the cheek, which gives a youthful, lifted appearance. Look for lipsticks and blushes in pink and peach tones, as they are almost universally flattering.

4. Sleep

It’s called beauty sleep for a reason. Getting the recommended hours of sleep per night gives your body a chance to recharge, and will increase your energy level.

5. Hair

Try to avoid the fatal helmet head, as a stiff head of hair is an instant age tip off. Use hairspray sparingly, as it gives aging hair a hard, shellacked look. When coloring hair, avoiding going completely blonde. Instead, try blonde highlights on top of your natural base color. It’s more youthful than a head of faux platinum hair.

6. Healthy Diet

As you age, it becomes increasingly important to watch what you eat. Make sure you get your recommended daily dose of vitamins C, D and A, as well as hearty portions of fruits and vegetables. Also remember to drink lots of water, as it replenishes the body and gives skin a youthful glow.
