Fuel Your Body, Pre and Post Workout

Fuel Your Body, Pre and Post Workout

Yes there are foods that will help your body through the workout, and help restore electrolytes when you are done.  Pre workout foods: Eating carbs before training will allow the carbs to be broken down and enter your bloodstream at the time your working out. These carbs will fuel your body and give you energy for an intense workout.

Immediately after workout is time to replenish glycogen stores that were depleted during your workout. You need foods to ingest that are simple carbs high on the glycemic index scale and will breakdown quickly to get into your blood stream and replenish your muscle tissue for tomorrow’s workout.

I personally would add some protein powder to the post-workout smoothie, protein helps your muscles to repair themselves, happy sweating!
